Bio

The artist known as Specyal T is an exceptionally talented, multi-instrumentalist, composer, songwriter, producer, vocalist, mentor, writer & poet; who's on a mission to expand the urban market with her unique brand of sound. A pianist from as early as two years of age, with training that began 22 years ago from six to nineteen through the Royal Conservatory Of Music, this Toronto native has developed a number of impressive skills. Having music in her DNA is an understatement when it comes to this recording artist.

In the mid 90's she became heavily influenced by hip hop, r&b, and alternative music. Shortly after she began perfecting her craft of writing and poetry. She was diligently involved in the community from hosting talent competitions to guest appearing at local events. Taking top honours at the Montreal Jazz Festival with her former stage band in 2001, and with the experience of recording their EP, gave Specyal T her first taste of what was to come. In her final year of high school she was the recipient of the Excellence in Music Award. By 2005 Specyal T was proficient on a few instruments and caxia was one of them. She teamed up with Toronto's Samba Squad, a drum ensemble that mixes world rhythms with the Afro-Brazilian Samba tradition, and opened for Sarah Mclachlan. This was also the year that Specyal T (the name and the vocalist) was born. She started off by creating her own beats and tracks and through this her music company "SPECYAL T PRODUCTIONS" was established. Specyal T has performed in 170+ shows as a solo instrumentalist, accompanist, ensemblist, and vocalist.

She partnered with Universal Music and Soul Kiss Entertainment in 2008, and by early 2009 her debut single "Ice Cream Cone" and video which guest stars iconic Canadian rapper Michie Mee was released. In 2010 her debut album "Dose Of Distinction" reached #11 on the UK Hip Hop / R&B album charts in it's first week of release! She was also voted Toronto's best female hip hop artist by Toronto Exclusive Magazine.

With her naturally distinctive voice she is often compared to a young Lauryn Hill with a unique individual style as like hip hop superstar Missy Elliot!

2011 brought some fresh live performances and two amazing new video releases, one of which "Get Me Thru", earned a nomination for video of the year!
Along with a brand new deal inked for international business radio, 2012 brings more videos and new music releases from both Specyal T herself and her artist Catherine Marie.

A unique blend of hip hop and r&b matched with an undeniable distinctive voice and an infectious personality, there's no surprise why they call her Specyal!

Come experience her Vibe!
